Day 1: Fes – Middle Atlas – Toudgha Gorges
We’ll leave Fes in the morning and start our drive through the Middle Atlas Mountains. First, we’ll pass by Ifrane, a small town that looks more like a European village. Then we’ll stop in a forest near Azrou where you can see and take photos of wild monkeys.
After that, we keep going through many small Berber towns before reaching Midelt a town known for growing apples. We’ll stop here for lunch and a break. In the afternoon, the road gets more scenic as we drive deeper into the mountains.
The views are just amazing, and the air feels fresh. By the end of the day, we’ll reach the tall cliffs of Toudgha Gorges. This is where we’ll have dinner and spend the overnight in a cozy guesthouse.
Day 2: Toudgha Gorges – Erfoud – Merzouga Desert
After breakfast, we’ll take a short walk in the gorge, where you get to see a river running through tall rocky walls a great place for photos. Then we drive past more Berber villages and stop in Tinjdad, where you’ll see some strange holes in the ground. These are entrances to an old underground water system called khettarat, which was used to bring water to the fields. You can even go down inside one to see how it works.
Later, we’ll reach Erfoud, a town famous for fossils. We’ll stop here to see how these fossils are turned into cool things like tables, sinks, and decorations. From here, we’ll head straight to the Sahara. Once we arrive in Merzouga, we’ll have some tea and get ready for a camel ride. The camels will take us through the sand dunes just as the sun starts to set. It’s a beautiful, peaceful moment.
At the camp, we’ll enjoy a local dinner, listen to local music, and sit around the fire. Then you’ll sleep in a well equipped tent with a private bathroom.
Day 3: Merzouga – Ziz Valley – Fes
If you wake up early, you can catch the sunrise over the dunes. It’s a quiet and special time. After breakfast, we’ll ride the camels back to downtown, where we’ll begin our trip back to Fes.
On the way, we’ll stop again in Erfoud and Rissani. Then we’ll drive through the Ziz Valley a huge area filled with palm trees and small farms. It’s especially famous for dates.
Once we reach Midelt, we’ll stop to have lunch before continuing through the mountains, taking in the breathtaking landscapes one more time. In the late afternoon, we’ll arrive back in Fes, where your tour from Fes ends.
